Methodology: a problem-solving process

The following is a list of different activities employed to collect data relevant to the research problem:

  • Contacted the BEBHS Development Director to gain access to the site.
  • Conducting site-based field work to answer the general question.
  • Used Big net approach to get an overall sense of the facility.
  • Key informants were identified who could provide information and insight relevant to the research question.
  • Conducting interviews with key informants at main facility.
  • Conducting comparative analysis by visiting other sites.
  • Administered online survey questionnaire to interview participants to create a chart.
  • Participation Observation will be completed to gain an 'insider' perspective about the research question that would not otherwise be obtained in any other way.
  • Review of existing products and design concepts from other areas.
  • Review of universal design, sustainable design, and feeding shelter animals literature.
  • Review of online resources from professional organizations.
  • Scenario building to better understand user interaction.
